Blooming Bin Men!!! Grrrr

Our collection day is Fridays(today) yet they repeatedly come and drag the big black bin out and empty it on a Thursday, before it's been filled properly. And today I still have to put out the blue recycling boxes and food waste bin . Yesterday morning I went out for 2 hours. Next to the black bin was a 5 litre tin of white paint, with only about an inch used, ready to go to the recycling depot up the road once I'd worked out what to put it in. I get bk 2 hours later and the bin men have yet again come up my drive to grab the black bin a day early, but they have also knocked over the tin of paint which has spilt everywhere - and just left it!! I rang the council who said they would send someone to clean it up - nobody bothered to turn up. I've just rang again and they say I didn't call yesterday!! God knows how I'm going to clean it up!

Oh dear, but at least your bin men come and get the bin themselves.

If we don't get our bins out onto the kerb in time for collection they remain un-emptied for a week. During summer here they get really pongy.
Aw that's awful smow :(
I can't believe your bin men come a day early without telling you! This would send my ocd OH into turmoil!!!
Must admit when I read your title I thought you had had enough of men in general ;-)
We don't have a front garden so just have normal bin bag collection along with recycling boxes.

What pees me off is our bin collection is Saturdays. They empty the glass collection into wheelie bins at about 8am and sometimes earlier. Not nice for people who hope to have a nice lie in after working all week.

They also do one side of the road at a time. So between all the pick ups 6 trucks go up and down the street for our street alone.

1ozzy they aren't meant to come and get it - it's just something they've started doing recently.i caught them doing it the other week and asked why they were here a day early and they just said they had some spare time! But the daft thing is that when they do this I still put in it what I haven't had a chance to and put it back ou again and they have to re empty it on the Friday - so silly!! I really don't know how to clear this paint up!
What is your drive made of?
Question Author
Jubieanna it drives me nuts!! Ummmm I can sympathise - didn't realise they did Saturday's actually?

It's gravel so it's seeping through all the stones!
I know...it used to be Thursdays and the noise never bothered me but for some reason it sounds so much louder on a Saturdays. I suppose midweek we're all up and about before they start.
If it's gravel could you let it dry then pick up all the gravel that's got paint on and put some fresh gravel down
I keep on at the council then. They might have to re gravel it.
my bin collection is once a fortnight..when they come !! grrrr....in a cul de sac and often they refuse to come down because of cars parked...
What sort of paint is it Smow?
eg: The paint tin should have clean up instructions on the side, Acrylic, Enamel, etc?

If it has spilt on a porous surface, concrete, pavers, stone, etc. then it maybe a tad difficult to remove.

Post any info you can find and I'll search for a way to clean.

Don't give up harassing your local council over this mess!!!

I've rang and complained again and said if they had left the bin and not come early then this would never have happened. They reckon they are passing it to relevant team but don't think they'll do a thing. I've taken a photo and will email it to them. So annoyed- they must have seen what they'd done.
Do you not have wheely bins? It seems a bit archaic to be still using plastic bags.
We have back alleys round here and they used to collect from there but when the council invested in new trucks they were too big for some of the alleys.
Melv - we don't have wheelie bins because we are directly onto the street.
We don't have wheelie bins either and we are not straight onto the street.

It's white gloss !! ( off to pour a G &T.......hic )
I was only assuming because my last house had a front garden and we had wheelie bins.
