It draws it nutrients from the tree on which it lives but the British variety causes little damage to its host.
It is propogated by birds who eat the white berries and deposit the seeds on a new host.Throughout the ages it has been thought to hold many mysterious properties and is still used at Christmas. Beware, though, the berries are poisonous to humans.
