Most need a wide long shallow tray.
Only other option is to stack it above the drier, I suppose.

If you are able, you can disconnect the plumbing unplug it and lift it onto a sturdy table. Then you can hold a bucket under it. If your machine is half full of water you will spend longer mopping up than you would lifting it to get a bucket under it. You would need new washers, or one washer, if it is cold fill only.
Perhaps you can connect a pump to the outlet and suck it all out ?
there's little water from a drain filter as i said a big towel would suffice
gezzer its not the washer that needs draining its the filter at the bottom of machine
connect a garden hose to outlet hose let it run off at back door
I just love the idea of disconnecting the plumbing and lifting the machine onto a table....
i use a baking tray standing on a towel x

my thoughts exactly lol
I know ivor but the filter is after the main machine which holds the water. Once it's drained all it can from the drain tube, anything left is minimal. A pump must surely be an option.
your right but dont know where the questionnaire was just asking to clean out the filter which has a water residue. maybe your right and its not drained the tub?
If you had a blocked filter and a machine that can't pump out believe me two strong lads for 10 minutes and a lift to a height that allows it beats the hell out of gallons of water all over the floor and possibly a downstairs room, if you are a flat dweller, with the ceiling down.

Thank you all for suggestions. I am female and 95 years old, and cannot envisage myself lifting a washing machine on to a sturdy table - collapse of stout party!!
I think a bath towel and patience will have to do - but perhaps it will see me out without attention
