First time grower, and have them in trugs, the stems and leaves are showing no signs of dying off ,does that mean the potatoes still aren't ready?

Maris Piper potatoes are maincrop potatoes and they are ready for harvest, if conditions are correct, 18 to 20 weeks after the seed potatoes are planted. (That's printed in the following link.) http://www.g ardenfocused .co.uk/veget able/potatoe s/variety-ma ris-piper.ph p Hans.

Sounds like they are still growing. If you dig them up now, they'll be edible, but if you leave them in, they'll continue to grow if they get enough moisture. Growing in trugs or containers can limit the yield. If you are lucky enough to be able to grow them in the ground, the yield is generally better.
