Is My Shower Punp Dead Or Something Else?

Dont know what to do.
Went to run a bath and the hot flow dies after a few seconds, though the shower pump is on. Then it stops and starts again. When stopped i can hear gurgling in the airing cupboard pipes down from the loft.
If i turn off the tap and on again the fow is normal but just for a few seconds.
I checked the vent to the cold tank which is clear.
The cold is fine.
Before I buy a new pump ( its about8 yrs old) is there something else I should look for please?

Is the shower fed from a header tank or direct from the main? Sounds like a blockage in the supply to the shower before the pump perhaps, if it is tank fed. Switch off power and check that water will flow freely with the pump disconnected if you can. I think I would do that.

Then if there appears to be no restriction to flow. Perhaps check that the pump blades are not limescaled up if it is possible to get at them.

Just another question Mjw. Can you hear the pump motor actually running? If not check the fuse , I think most electric showers have their own discreet supply....or should have.

If you are sure that the pump is running...
Check the inlet shower pump filters.
//If there is still poor flow after you’ve cleaned and descaled the shower head then it may be necessary to clean the filters inside the shower pump. The filters can become blocked with limescale in hard water areas and, after the initial installation of the pump or where a lot of work has been done on the pipework in a house, with jointing compounds, tapes, flux and other bits of debris. To clean the filters, turn off all service valves and disconnect the electrical connection to the shower pump. The filters are generally located behind the flexible connection pipes to the impellers. Remove them and clean them gently. Then reconnect the system and refill the pump by opening the valves.//

Thanks for all the suggestions. Most helpful.
I still have flow when the pump is off so nova blockage also all other hots in the house work normally.
Could be a filter thing.
Or I might just get another pump.
Would like a more powerful one anyway.

Thanks to all your answers I have now cured the problem.
I went to turn off the hot supply in the airing cupboard where the pump is to check the filter and saw that the hot isolator valve lever was nearly horizontal.
I must have caught it replacing bedding on the shelf!
Dur! What am I like.
Anyway by suggesting filter I went to the valve.
You saved me lashing out on a new pump!
