Take them down now Mags. Put them in a bag or box with a ripe banana.

Thanks guys, had heard of that but never tried. I used to make chutney, but as I'm the only one eats it I don't bother now
Hi Woof. " She who must be obeyed" has spent the day ending the summer pot plants and prepping to store Dahlia tubers and Begonia corms. I am just logistics and mucky labour as usual.
I have picked the last of my runners today to dry for planting next year...all the veggie plants except the baby corn will be lifted this week and I will be harvesting the crabs for jelly. Got nice men coming to cut the tree hedge growing next door back to my fence line and clear brambles and some chance come saplings. I love this time of year.
It gets dark earlier, and gets colder, and one knows it'll get worse before it gets better. That's autumn.

Picked all the remaining tomatoes Saturday. Green ones are now on a tray hoping they'll redden. I had more success than last year, but there again it was from bought plants not seeds this year. Slugs & snails were still a problem. And loads of tomatoes split this year. I need to buy an automatic watering system. Had I the space it'd have been nice to have a greenhouse.
