I am trying to save up so I can go away and be a student again, but my house keeps going wrong, and I have to pay for things to be fixed. The latest one is a manhole which floods in heavy rain. I have just been given a quote for 914 to have a new one put in. That is a LOT of money for me.

Do you find that your house eats money? What is the last thing to had to pay for on your house?

Ouch! that's a lot of money for most people.

We do a lot of the stuff ourselves - handy when your missus is a carpenter - and Iguess it's not as bad when you're planning work rather than nasty shocks.

I was taken back a bit recently though to find that scaffolding up my chimney for a week was going to cost 400 - still cheaper than hospital I guess
