Dyson Cordless Or Gtech Vacuum Cleaner

Does anyone have one of these, which would your recommend, Dyson or Gtech, also which model. Thanks.

I have the Dyson V? they brought it out last year - love it, I have 2 dogs and 4 cats and it allows me to keep the house clean without pulling out the full hoover.

I have a G-tech which is adequatebut has one or two niggles like emptying and changing filters is a bit messy.No knowledge of Dyson.If I need to change in the future I would go for the Shark

I have used Dysons for over 20 years. I used to have a cleaning lady, and when I bought my first Dyson, you couldn't have given her a diamond tiara, and made her any more grateful !

I certainly wouldn't go back to using a normal "bag" cleaner again....not sure what type the Gtech is.

Gtechs certainly have fans here on AB though.

Remember the Lithium Ion rechargeable battery has a life of 2 > 4 years and then it needs replacing, the cost is about 80% of the cost of a new cleaner !

Dyson all day long. More robust and liable to last. We use a Dyson cordless and did purchase the Gtech for late M.I.L. It was OK for her in a small flat but would not do for us, especially with a daft hairy dog.

Why do you persist in posting such misinformation Eddie? A Dyson replacement battery is £38.99. Ohh and ours is still going strong after 5 years.

Mikey ,a new battery pack for the Nissan Leaf is £38,000 !!!
In a constant stop / start short journey situation the car can need a new battery pack in under 2 years. The battery pack is specifically excluded from the guarantee.

Thanks Togo you have saved me a job - my father had to replace his and just contacted Dyson and they sent one to him and it didn't cost 80% of the cost of the cleaner!

The cost of battery replacement is the reason that I wouldn't touch any of these cordless devices. We bought a Bosch strimmer for about £25 in the sale, when, less than two years later, we needed a new battery they were £80 and over! Many people are in for shocks with so many cordless devices in use.

Togo OK , but still a significant % of the new price and the battery life is highly dependent on how you use it. You may well get 5 years or even longer but some will need a new battery after less than 18 months.
Remember battery replacement is an additional cost only applicable to rechargeable appliances , you still use the same cost
(in fact more as recharging is well under 100% efficient) in electricity to recharge them as to run them off the mains directly.
Also Lithium mining is one of the most dirty & environmentally damaging activities known, Lithium has very few uses apart from rechargeable batteries.

Dyson give a 2 year guarantee on their products. Including the battery.

Thanks all, will probably go for the Dyson, but the new Shark looks quite good as it has two rechargeable batteries.

Mine is a Hoover (£70) refurbished and is excellent .
