My central heating system incorporates a CONDENSATE SOAKWAY DRAIN. It's about 5 inches in diameter, 15 inches in depth and has a rubber capping with a central bung.
The systam shuts down and error code EA is displayed. I think the soakaway has become gummed-up (the system has be installed about 30 months) because when the central bung is removed water rises up and spills over the surface block paving (about a small cupful) and the system can be started up agan ok - but only for a day or so when I repeat the bung removal again and so on.
QUESTIONS How is the rubber capping removed - yanked up or unscrewed ? and how easy is it the remove the limestone chippings?? I would propose to replace the chippings with a new fresh lot.
Comments and remarks wouod be gratefully received.

It came out nice a cleanly with only a small effort - I used a large screwdriver to prise up the capping at one side and the whole thing just "popped out"
The job of removing the limestone chippings was very straightforward if rather tedious - a desert spoonful at a time and it took me about 40 minutes.
Again - thanks to The Builder.
