The time has come to say goodbye to my washing machine.

I have been looking at new ones and am inclined to go for a Miele. As strange as it sounds I’m not sure what features I should be looking for, I haven’t had cause to but many washing machines in my time!

What should I be considering?

Thanks for the tips, I have been looking at machines with large doors as I am definitely a rammer in rather than piece by piece into the drum person :-(

Like most I only use a handful of the cycles so don’t need a machine that has a gentle wash for unicorns.
Currys will plumb the new one in for about £25, and take away your old one for £20
we have a Samsung Ecobubble and it has been great. No problems.

I’m not paying someone to do something as simple as connecting a washing machine, I may be female and blonde but I’m not daft!

I will go for the removal option though, there’s enough crud cluttering up the garage waiting to got to the tip withou adding to it :-)
Yes, Miele can be pricey (ours was just short of a grand) but worth every penny....10-year all-inclusive warranty and built to last 20 years. Extremely quiet....you don't know if it's actually going! Always the Which? Best Brand for washers.

A low dB is important to me as I am very sensitive to low frequency noise.

Even though our washing machine is in the utility room the current one sounds and feels like a space shuttle launch!
JL charge £15 for removing old machine and they take away all packaging as well.
Eccles I can advise you of Which Best Buy machines might suit you but I need to know your price range. There are 68 BB machines to choose from but some are horrendously expensive but most of the good makes have a good price range and still get a BB recommendation for their cheaper models.
Or if you fancy a particular machine I could look it up and see if it is a Which BB.
Oh and there are 31 Don't Buys.
Make sure you get the one that unloads it, hangs it out to dry, brings it in, irons it and puts it away. I swear a former partner believed that sticking a load in and turning it on was all that was necessary because the machine did the rest.

That is vet kind of you Ladybirder. I am pretty much settled on a Miele so it’s just a question of finding a model that suits my needs. Miele are always at the top of the B.B. list, they only ever seem to get marked down for their price point.

Barmaid, I’ve found a machine that comes with £50 of detergent but not one that comes with a free housekeeper, i’ll keep looking.
I think you'll find the free housekeeper is already installed........ ;)
I think my washing fairy has eloped with the sock goblin ...
The 1st Miele comes in @ no.17 with a score of 78% which I am surprised at as I am a big Miele fan. It is a WKF 301 @ circa £999.00.
The next M comes in @ no.30 with 76% WDDO 30 @ £999.00.
Next is no.39 with 74% WMF121 @ £1099.00.
There are a few more Mieles but they actually get more expensive.
Siemens, Samsung, Bosch, Neff and LG all do very well if you fancy any of those.

Goodness, the last time I looked at Which? Miele were much higher scored!

Barmaid, I am cheap not free! ;-)
Inexpensive, Eccles, yes; cost-effective, yes but cheap?!!!!!!
i got a cheapy cheap cheap, its fairly quiet it works and I've had it about 5 years and its still going which is good for me, no idea what brand, cheapy cheap cheap probably

Good value for money Barmaid?
You might croak before the guarantee runs out on a Miele. On the bright side, you could pass it on to your kids :-)

Botox! I might as well buy a Beko as we don’t have any kids!

Younger sister in laws would probably be eternally grateful.
Don't go buying a bag for life, Eccles ;-)
