broken fridge freezer
4 Answers
I remember seeing on this site a while back when seaerching for hints on trasporting fridge freezers that someone had a solution to broken freezers. My freezer works but the fridge part doesn't. the light comes on so it is not the fuse and I was wondering if any genius out there might know what was wrong as am very short of money right now to pay for replacement or repair.

In your case the fridge is on a separate cooler loop that is governed by a separate thermostat. I agree with the previous answer that it is almost certainly a failed thermostat in the fridge. You can locate this by taking off the knob that sets the fridge temperature - it is the little cube-like thing that the spindle where the knob fits onto it, together with the thin copper tube that leads from it. See what it looks like and find a replacement - one possibility is a repair shop where you can quote the make and model. If you feel hesitant about doing the repair yourself (removing whatever trim as necessary before switching new for old, wire connections and all - but with the fridge unplugged from the power socket) then try asking a careful/methodical friend who can be trusted. But it is an easy job.
