What is the best way to remove indentations in a carpet,

Damp them with a solution of warm water and fabric conditioner then after about an hour lift the pile with a stiffish brush

Put ice cubes on them and they will disappear

I replace old computer desk with a dressing table..was very heavily indented..but did as Rowan suggested..and added a bit of 1001 carpet cleaner to the solution...it lifted a great deal and after a few weeks they were gone...kept hoovering over on high suction
