i never understand this input and output business

last year i never got hardly any heat for a lot of money spent out

can someone please explain ho w to set them up to maintain a warmth that lasts all the time not just a half hour blast in the middle of the night and then freezing when i get home

They heat up at night and store the heat during the next day. How much heat they store depends on how high imput they are set at.
The next day the higher the output you set determines how much of the stored heat is given out. The idea is during the day the output is set at low to keep the place warm. When it gets colder in the evening you turn the output up to release more of the stored heat. However you can not get out more than was stored and often in the evening when you need the heatt here is very little left.
A good idea in theory but not very good in practice. I have often turned them off at night only to find the weather the next day freezing and vice verse, you have to be a bit of a weather forecaster.
Certainly would not go for them again.

my old place had storage heaters and there were a nightmare. I had them at maximum output so I collected maximum heat then minimum output to make it last all day. Even then, in the evenings I had to use another heater. This was in the smallest living room in Britain, fully double glazed and insulated. NEVER AGAIN!

oops! I meant maximum INPUT. Silly me!

I live in a flat which has Dimplex white meter storage heaters. I emailed them with the models numbers and I received operating instructions by return of post. Very helpful.

we have storage heater and find it rreally economical, and gets pretty warm too.. the trick is is make sure the vents are well closed(more so if you have old heaters, as they sometimes do not close tight), then only open them up in the evening, usually when you get home if you work, that then should last all evening as the heater start to warm up again at midnight. failing that,, there is something called warm wise which is available from who ever supplies your heat,,, and is a system which has boosts of heat during the day at suitable times for you.. be warned, they don't offer this easily,, you have to ask for this option....
