Well I had my chandeliers fitted today, they have 5 branches so even with 40w bulbs it adds up to 200w which I'm finding a bit bright.

If I change them to 20w I think it won't be bright enough, so was wondering if it's ok to have some 40w and some 20w on the same light fitting or is that a no,no.

Many thanks.

The bulbs will be wired in parallel, rather than in series, so there will be no problems with mixing wattages.
As long as you dont exceed the rated wattage for the fitting it will be fine to mix as you please.

Thanks guys, I'll be lessening the wattage as its too bright so that's good news.
You could always fit a dimmer switch...for the romantic evenings :-)
Do people still swing from the chandeliers?
Only if their name is Errol.
It will look a bit odd, being an odd number.

If it was six you could alternate between the two.
It's OK to mix them, try the 20s first, should be enough for a normal size room.
Perhaps 5 x 25 watt bulbs,or investigate the LED equivalent.

Sandy, it's that what they're for?!!
LED's are the way to go now - use a 10th of the energy.
