Getting Washing Dry

How do you dry yours in this damp, dank weather, the tumble dryer costs a fortune and shrinks everything, I only have a small home, so dont want it hanging round the house.

I only wash as much as will fit on the clothes airer in the spare bedroom and I don't was anymore, until that lot is dried, ironed and put away.

I hang it on an airer overnight near a radiator then finish in the dryer the next day -often its almost dry before it goes in the dryer, I do it mainly to fluff up the towels and so I don't have to iron things.

I have just bought a heated airer from Aldi for the horse rugs, It costs pennies to run and dries the rugs out a treat -think I might go back and get another for the house as this was only about £30

My daughter has one of those clothes dryer thingies. The ones with a heater underneath the rack and a cover.

i use my tumble dryer. if money is a wwrooy you could get one of those dryers you zip up and they heat the room as well. My tumble is a rated because it's on of those heat pump ones

I'm fortunate that have wet room downstairs so put on washing rack in there then finish in tumble dryer

I hang my washing on a rack that hangs from the ceiling in the boiler room. It dries in no time. Never use my tumble dryer now, except for when something's needed very quickly.

The trouble with drying washing indoors is that it can lead to problems with damp and condensation. The answer is to use a dehumidifier set to 'Laundry Mode'.

In my opinion desiccant wheel dehumidifiers are better for domestic use as explained in this article which is well worth reading.

We too have a modern dehumidifier as above ( with desiccant wheel). We put washing on airers in the spare room and run the machine. It's amazing how much water it collects.

Providing its not raining, my washing still goes outside. Yes iy might still feel wet through, but it's surprising how quickly they fry on an airer after they've been outside for a few hours.

If the weathers crud they go no the airer in front of a window upstairs, that's open- again, surprising how quickly they dry- usually overnight.

I used to have one of those dry buddy things, but I didn't like the 'hot, wetness' feel they made whatever room they were in even with a window open for ventilation.

Boo I prefer drying stuff outside, but my bathroom does have one of these.

Good idea those Tony, but I open windows upstairs everyday for few hours in winter anyway.

I'm northern, im far too tight to pay for something that an open window does for nowt ;-)

No tumble dryer at the moment. I tend to think repeated use both shrinks and wears clothing out quicker. So everything is dried in the downstairs hall. Small stuff on the radiator...dries in no time. Everything else on hangers. As long as the heat is on for the evening, everything is 90% dry by morning.

apart from my very few posh clothes, everything goes in the washing machine and dryer. I don't find that stuff shrinks.

I've never had anything shrink in my tumble dryer, and it doesn't cost that much. When I got my free monitor when I had smart meters fitted, I was amazed at how low the cost was. It's a Bloomberg A++

A tumble dryer for me.....much as the scent of outdoor dried laundry is nice I am too impatient to spend time hanging out washing.
I've only had one pair of trousers shrink a little...everything else gets a bit of a stretch and onto a hanger.....no problems and bliss...x
