Hi folks, wonder if you can advise. I have a double bed size off-white slightly quilted throw which really needs a freshen-up (from months of being in the wardrobe top cupboard .... It says "dry clean only" and when I checked the label it says that the top layer of the throw is silk, and the other (back) side is polyester/cotton. Dare I put it in the machine? It's quite expensive to get dry cleaned, but would hate to ruin the silk top layer by washing it in the machine. Any thoughts folks?

I would chance a very cool short wash.
I also would wash it.
If you have a 'delicates' setting on your machine, wash it on that setting at 30 degrees.

Of course - silly me! Had completely forgotten about the "delicates" cycle - I always use a 30 degree wash anyway, but will take a chance with the throw. Cheers, Chox.
use non bio powder
I'd shove it in the machine on a cool, delicate wash and preferably on a day when you can dry it outdoors on the line. Might need to leave it until spring/summer!
Depends what age the silk is.
