Firm Sofa

Anyone out there know where in the UK I could get a really firm sofa? My back needs proper support when I watch the telly, etc. Orthopaedic beds are easy to find, but firm sofas?

I have noticed that if you by a sofa with a recliner built in they are always more firm than an ordinary sofa, due to the mechanics under the cushion. Maybe worth a look.

Buy a Chesterfield leather sofa. They are very unyielding. :-)

The majority of chairs and sofas on offer are pretty disappointing in the long run. Tilly has suggested a firm sofa but I find the Chesterfields really uncomfortable. On the other hand you might like to look at an Ekornes sofa, particularly a Stressless (the individual chairs are excellent, again my experience/opinion).

A quick and cheap solution would be a sheet of chipboard or plywood placed under the cushions.

^^^^yes, that may help sagging cushions underneath the OP, but will do nothing to give "proper support" to her back....which is why I suggested a Backfriend (which I have and use daily - it can turn any chair into a "back-friendly" one).
