Brought a new metal curtain pole and is is a expandable one, Have hung the cortains but when try to close the they will not go pass the ridge where the pole comes out. can some one help please.

Too late now but the only real solution is to buy a very long pole so the join is almost at the very end. You could try putting some tapering tape over the join so the curtain hooks don’t hit a barrier? I have found using a curtain rod to lift the curtains as you pull also helps.

Aye, it seems the solution is to put something at the join to avoid the sudden step. To change it to a lengthy ramp joint instead. It'd need to be smooth, not sticky, though. Maybe cut a piece of hard plastic, or maybe wood, into a long wedge shape and glue it on the top at the step drop ?
