Hi stronghold...i personally think it depends who does it, as I've had some bits like that done in my abode this year. We had someone who is a plumber who we know quite well so it probably wasn't as expensive as if we'd had a stranger in. My advice is to get in somebody who comes recommended if you can, but to definitely get about three quotes for the job so you can compare. Sorry it isn't a specific answer as such. You could even ask ABers if they can recommend a plumber in your area!

Can you be more specific in what you are doing, suite staying in the same place? How old is the old one. I have put in a suite lately and came up against imperial pipe work, toilet waste too far from the wall and the bath waste was in brass! There are numerous adaptors available for the pipe work, get plumbers to quote and to explain exactly - ask about....

Isolation valves on the hot and cold feed pipes, use of flexible pipes, copper pipe to be used or plastic(plastic pipes are available now for hot water applications), toilet soil waste which will be going through your floor or through the wall- ask how easy it will be to couple to a new modern toilet ( ask about Multikwik adaptors- these are anything up to 28.00). Cold water feed to your existing toilet cistern- where is it? modern toilets are piped low and behind the toilet so this pipework will need rerouting.Get them to earth bond all metal pipework where possible

A good plumber will do this job easily in a day with a mate. Copper fittings are pricey, i would be happy to pay around 250 - 300 inclusive of vat and materials

Check out www.Screwfix.co.uk for prices of copper fittings, waste traps, isolation valves, flexi pipes.

If it is a straight forward swap-over and you are providing the materials ie taps, basin, pedestal, wc and pan then there will only be minor plumbing required and the work would take less than a day. The cost would be around 100 for a competent plumber possibly up to 150 if you have a cast iron soil pipe and the connection from the pan to the soilpipe has to be modified. In major cities though this price could double.
