What is the most cost effective way for me to produce my own heat and/or electricity in my home (with medium sized garden), how can I best do this and how much will it cost? I'm thinking solar, wind, other?

A bike, and a dynamo. Yu can pick up a bike for around �15 second hand, dynamos come from a bike shop too. fix them together. Produce electricity by riding the bike which will result in the added bonus of warming yourself up (- for free!!)
