Problem With Electrics

Hi I hope someone can help. We have a wall light on the wall outside of our house and in some bad weather recently it actually came off the wall and broke. My hubs has bought a new light and tried to put it up yesterday but every time he switched our electric off the house alarm started. He tried about 4 times but the same thing every time. Any ideas? Thanks

You may need to read the alarm manual.
It seems it is suspicious of someone cutting it's power.

Do you have a battery back up for your alarm? Most systems do. Perhaps the back up battery needs changing. What happens when you disarm the alarm on the control box?

When you switch your electric off and the alarm sounds it is letting you know that the battery inside the alarm needs replacing.

Burglar alarms are often designed to detect the power to them being cut off, so that they can't simply be disabled in that way. You need to read the instruction manual for the alarm system in order to find out how to temporarily disable that function in order that the work to install the new outdoor light can be completed. If you can't find the information, please provide the make and model of the alarm.

Just switch of the circuit that the outside light is on.

Buenchico thanks. I do still have the manual for the alarm so I will get that out in the morn. The alarm also goes off when a light bulb blows and we are totally baffled.

If the alarm is sounding when the mains supply to it is cut off, it must have a battery inside it!

Now there's a question, it could be any where in your house. Is it in a hallway cupboard, have a look around the garage, it could be in the loft. Have you got a utility room ?
Hubby has two jobs now !

The battery on my system is located inside the control box inside our house and not on the outside wall alarm box.

I reckon it makes sense to have the battery out of reach of an outside intruder.
