It's a job for a gas safe engineer. It is not as bad as it looks. Find yourself a local heating engineer and get a quote. If you are in no rush, get a few quotes. Has the leak been isolated.

wot is isolated? Ive got buckets under the leak. Most plumbers cant work till Tuesday + as they have other work.

Isolated is where the water running through the piping has been turned off. Not practical to do so in this case?
It doesn't look like a complicated job but I guess it will cost £200 - £300.
And if the system is old they may find other faults.

It is recommended to replace a gas boiler after 15 years & I guess check and deal with any other issues with radiators etc.
So 40 years is getting on a bit!
My boiler is about 25 years old. At the last service the engineer told me that it is fine.
