How much on average would I expect to pay for ridge tiles being remortared on the top of my typical terraced house?

It's a bit difficult to say given there are many variables.

Is scaffolding required?
How high is the house?
Will neighbouring properties be affected?
Where you live.

All of those can change the price wildly. Get some quotes from reputable roofers.

I had mine done about 3 years ago on a semi and it was about £450.

Assuming it's only two storeys, and assuming there are no extensions in the way, the cheapest way is to find a local one-man roofer.
He'll put a ladder up from the pavement, hook a roof-ladder over the ridge, and shinny up there with a bucket of mortar.

£200 or so should do it. (More if he has to go off looking for replacement ridges if any are missing, or there are tiles/slates that need fixing.)

Unless hers was more involved, or she lives in the South-East, I think Margaret paid quite enough :o(

That's what we did when we had ours done
I can't recall the cost exactly , but it wasn't far off what TB says

Incidentally , I heard that one of the chaps who did ours fell off a roof
Don't know what his injuries were - hope he recovered
