I have some gaps in my guttering which I'm trying to fill with the proper mastic using a palette knife. But the mastic wants to stick to the knife rather than the guttering and keeps coming away;Any ideas please? Thanks.

Thanks BC,my guttering is "jn situ" so there is little chance of my doing as suggested.
Just use diectly into the joint then smooth with a wet finger or knife.
The joint is probably wet.

Split the guttering dry and then mastic.
