the shower base is now somewhat bubbled, i have anti slip bubble type mats down,
they appear to have made imprints in the base, and now its bobbled, truly strange.

not sure if anything can be done, i just wondered if this is something that happens, i think the
base is enamel.

Question Author
i only noticed them as i washed the anti slip mats.
enamel like a roasting tin?
Might not be enamel - which is a glassified coating onto metal. Probably acrylic/plastic.
Question Author
could be dave. its just odd, never noticed before.
Question Author
oh dear, going on that its not good.
If it is cold I would suspect stone/resin which generally has an acrylic sheet to waterproof it. Its fairly think though so surprised it is bubbling.

I suspect the only option will be a new shower tray.
Question Author
its a long tray, and was put in by builders, plumbers when they turned the bath into a shower only room
as long as it's not leaking & you cover the surface with an anti-slip mat, is it really a problem?
Question Author
hope not, i can get it replaced i think, but its about 4 years or so old, so not sure why its bubbling -
I did the same thing for my mum 10 years ago, I think you have been unlucky Emmie and its a fault in the manufacture. I dont think it is anything you have done although I have never seen this in all the trays I have installed for people. Probably a bit late to claim a return though.

If its on a ground floor then I'd be tempted to ignore it (but watch for cracking) but if on an upper floor water damage from leaking is more of a problem so I'd probably look to replace it.
Question Author
I am on the second floor, its just little bubbles, no cracks have appeared so far as i can tell - i just thought it was an imprint from mats, but that obviously isn't the case.
maybe it has an allergy to the combination of cleaning materials, shower gels etc you use.
Question Author
maybe, its a hard thing to clean, as i can't bend that much, so the mats have left a mark where they sit. i have used viakal to get the marks off, but its still like it
Question Author
i would have noticed im sure before, don't use shower gels, only soap.
perhaps lift the mats between uses and let it all dry. Do they not get mouldy.
Question Author
if they get a bit mouldy i replace them with new ones,
Question Author
yes i should lift them but there is no where to put them except onthe base.
Question Author
what would cause the base to bubble, would it be collected water?
Have you been anywhere near it when the vitriol flows about Gulliver or Diddlydo?
