Checking The Credentials Of Traders

Hi folks, we are currently inviting a few quotes for local tradesmen for internal and external painting and decorating. Obviously, we don't want to end up with "cowboys" who will just take your money, do a rubbish job and then run ...., Does anyone know if there is a website where we can check up on a few people who we've got coming to our address for a quote. It's not a huge amount of work, and it's just white (and black) glossing external and internal doors, but we'd like to get someone reputable. Hope someone can help, please. Cheers, Chox.

Yes Check A Trade is good. I have also found a few contractors using the Nextdoor app.

Thanks for this information, folks - but we wanted to check out the names of the 3 contractors who are coming to quote for us - and there doesn't seem to be a facility for checking on names. Only for the trade we're after. Cheers, Chox.

If you click on a trade then you will see a list of tradesmen in that trade.

If they are not listed then I would say to them as they are not listed on checkatrade could they provide references that can be checked and photos of previous work.

You could just try a Google search of the Company name and add 'reviews'. I'm sure some sort of feedback would pop up.
