Guttering Joints........non Leaking?

I am forever having to adjust my guttering joints. The rubber gasket that is meant to stop leaks moves out of place somehow but even when it doesn't the joints drip. Does anyone know of a leak proof join or perhaps other ideas on how to stop leaking. Thanks.

If you adjust the joint you might be pushing the gasket out of place. Washing-up liquid will help to lubricate and avoid this.

You need to wait until it's been dry for a few days, then clean the area around the joint and apply a good quality sealant.
I had a similar problem with 2 of my joints on my conservatory roof and used cheap sealant - it cost around £3 for a tube.
Someone eventually persuaded me to try CT1 - cost about £12 for a tube ..... the joints have never dripped since.
Moral of the story - use a good quality sealant (I highly recommend CT1) and make sure the joint is clean and dry.

Tora, you wil find that the gasket has perished over time, heat and possibly freezing. You can replace the gaskets but need to get the right one. There are sites online that supply gutter seals and you should be able to identify the profile if you take a picture and then compare the shapes and sizes. Even Amazon supply some types.

Seriously though you cant really use a sealant as the joints need to move. Inside the join you will see markings on where the gutter should be placed to allow for expansion/retraction. It's a fair bit.

Temp fix could be something like Vaseline, but really only temp. The seals need replacing.

I fixed my joints with sealant about 3 years ago and they haven't dripped since :)

If the gutter is cleaned out so it isn't full of rotten leaves and moss, and it has a gentle slope, there shouldn't be water in it to leak out.
