Please can anyone advise me about changing my mobile phone provider? I have been with Orange even before they were Orange. Now they are EE and BT owned they are absolutely awful. Can you recommend a good supplier. I would prefer to go somewhere and be advised, rather than do it over the phone. I live in Devizes, Wiltshire and need to change before the 11 of this month. Many thanks. Bramley.

Your link at 1310 goes to an American web design company, Bramley! Questions about mobile phone service providers come up often here. There are only four actual networks in the UK. (Vodafone, O2, EE and Three). All other networks are simply 'piggyback' services, that make use of the transmitters and infrastructure of those four. So, for example, if your...

Oops, just read your last message.
Never a problem getting a helpful human on the line at Plusnet.
I recently changed to Smarty, they piggyback on the Three network, £10 per month sim only, no contract, gives you unlimited calls and texts and 30 gigabytes of data. If the Three reception is good where you are I would recommend them

i am on a sim only contract and feel i am paying over the odds with EE, 13 quid a month. Any advice on changing to another provider. We have no tesco outlets except an express one locally, any help much appreciated.
emmie, how much data do you use each month, and how many minutes/texts?
Smarty, as an example, gives you 12GB of 5G data, unlimited texts and unlimited minutes for £4 a month for the first three months then it is £8 per month - but it is one month rolling contract so you can cancel at any time.

If you don't want the faff of chasing introductory offers, Talkmobile offers unlimited calls and texts and 4GB of data for £5 a month on a 1 month rolling contract.

Impossible to give a proper recommendation without knowing how much data you use and whether you are in an area that doesn't get good coverage from certain networks
in truth i don't use that much data, i don't use the phone much at all, but like to have it just in case i am out and about....
If you wanted Tesco you can order online and the sim will come through the post
Are you in a contract with EE? If so, how long for?
EE has been good but their prices are way too high - I am in the capital and coverage is good as far as it goes.
SIM Only contract.
i need to stay as a sim only contract, i just need to pay a lot less than the 13 quid a month i am paying now.
If you switch through Uswitch you can get 5GB data for £1.98 for 3 months, then £5 a month with Lebara

I know it's a SIM only contract but how long is left of your contract? You may have to pay a penalty to switch if you are midterm.
thanks Barry.
not sure if i am honest, i think i will call them today and see if they can do something about their prices.
and they can then tell me how long i have left on sim only contract.
I've just looked at EE website and the prices are horrendous

That USwitch deal with Labara looks good to me - that's on the Vodafone network
i don't know how to switch, total dunce where tech matters are concerned.
It's easy. If you want to keep your existing phone number you need to get the PAC code from EE (text PAC to 65075).
Order the new SIM card from your new provider and give them the PAC code. You must complete the switch within 30 days - that is plenty of time.
The new SIM card will come with instructions on how to complete the switch, it really is straightforward
