My favourite is Vaillant. But there must be other good ones out there. I'm somewhat enamoured of the continental ones (German, French) as I think they were in on all this combi lark before the British. They had sealed systems while we had header tanks in the loft. They had combis while we had cyliders in the landing cupboard (although cylinders make sense for some properties). I expect you'll get some replies here from people with a wider experience than I have had.
Davebro; why does the Worcester Bosch have that odd name - a blend of Olde England and Germany?
I've had two Vaillants over the last 30 years; the first was the old-style boiler which keeps on going even when it's old and creaky and was simple to repair (like a Morris minor). My current Vaillant is more modern, the type that might need a new PC board when it breaks down (350 quid please!)
I guess some folks are lucky or not. My mate had a Vaillant in his new house & it gave nothing but trouble. After 3 or 4 years and countless repairs he replaced it with a Baxi.
Bosch of Germany took over Worcester Heating 30 years ago.. So the name is redolent of both Vorsprung durch Technik and old maids cycling to communion in the mist.
I had a new Worcester Bosch Greenstar fitted in January - highly recommended.
The only thing I don't like is that there are no knobs or a readout of the pressure on the front, just a dark circular 'porthole' which is operated like a smartphone. I don't have a smartphone, so I find it off-putting.
