I have just moved into a new house and would like to get a cat. The back door is PVC and I am unsure as to whether it is possible to fit a cat flap into it, cvan anyone give me any help/advice?
I am not sure if you can, but I live in an upstairs flat and put a cat flap in my window. I had a bay window and had one of them removed and made three quarters double glazed with the cat flap at the bottom. My cats go in and out as from the roof there is a wee jump to a shed and then to a wall! Failing using the door, you could convert a window!
Its not that easy, for security purposes the inside of the door is metal with pvc covers because when you think about it how easy would it be for a determined burglar to smash a bit of plastic through, and cutting through metal isn't the easiest thing if you're not experienced!
Yes you can have a cat flap installed because we did. Get someone in though because apparently these doors have metal braces inside and you have to cut the hole in the right place!
You need a drill and a jigsaw to cut the hole as the panels are probably sheet steel and foam sandwich. Allow sufficient room away from the frame for the jigsaw to move.
