Duvet

Just about two or 3 months ago I bought a new duvet - down and feather 13.5 tog. Now I have bought these years ago and they were quite lightweight. Just after making my bed and must say the duvet is very heavy and expensive.

I am looking for a lightweight duvet - I do know men can handle the heavy ones but I can't - any help please. Thanks

1 tog - that wouldn't keep you warm. Chris (Buenchico) likes Argos but then he is a man.

Don't know if you can use John Lewis but I am very pleased with my dual weight synthetic one. Light and easy to put cover on, machine wash, line dry and fluff in drier.

You did ask for lightweight Jennyjoan! What about 4.5 tog or wait till the experts come along!

Duvets: Summer 1 - 4.5 tog
Spring/Autumn 7 - 10.5
Winter 12 - 15
All seasons 10.5

well moore - am thinking of 10.5 - my house is lovely and warm tho and sure if I am a little cold I can wrap the duvet round the body. To be honest I have never heard of 1 tog in my wee life LOL

oh we clashed there - £14 for king sized in Argos - may go for that - don't know anybody who would want the current one

Do you mean high tog but low weight of the quilt itself, if so pure down is the lightest and warmest ( costs a lot though) but there are some synthetics which are lighter than normal, you will need to go to a good department store that offers a wide range to try the feel of them. Look for hollowfibre, and hi-loft types

If changing it is the problem just buy washable duvets with a cover that is part of them, the whole thing goes in the washing machine.

rowan - don't think king sized would go into my machine - although that's a great idea.

at the mo with my back I do have seven pillows - helps me to see TV a little but do only lie on two pillows -

A low TOG duvet won't be any good for you, JJ, and you don't need to buy a new one.

Just use a flat sheet under your duvet and you'll never have to change the cover again, just wash the sheet.

moore - one tog would be the weight of the cover only LOL - mine would be anyway

tried that Barry - but I tumble and toss that much the sheet is nearly on the ground so that's more trouble - that's my name Jennyjoan trouble is my surname LOL

It is time to employ help, jenny, much as you may not want to. Clean your windows, change your bed, any other regular job that gives you bother.
Why keep struggling when you really don't have to. One hour a week should be plenty.

Sorry Barry - I got a cleaner about 3 weeks ago - I do have an upright vacuum cleaner - she took the hose off the cleaner and snapped in half and broke it. She just tucked the hose away and she hoped I didn't see it but I was there - I was too embarrassed to say anything but I fixed it with some duct tape - she is a cleaner for a friend for years and when she went back to friend she told her I had a black eye which I had - so don't do gossip. I will get another cleaner but really can't stand them in my house.

oh by the way - she managed to stay 4 hours for £50. My house is clean so apart from changing the duvet in another bed room - I don't know what she done - maybe mopped the dining room.

Do you think it cheeky to ask her (if I get her back with her own hoover) to ask her to clean out my kitchen cupboards. I am a little embarrassed at that.

I did get the same lady in 2017 when I was knocked down and I asked her to clean the windows - she slapped them with a floor cloth.
