Buildup Of Scum In Washing Machine.
7 Answers
We’ve tried loads of products to get rid of scum that persists in the pipe work of our washing machine but to no avail. We add a Calgon tablet on every wash on have used proprietary products but nothing changes. Sometimes the scum transfers to the clothes in the drum and they turn out soiled. Any tips anyone.

I do a lot of laundry at 60 or 70 degrees. I did try the pods but often found a slimy residue in the laundry and the seals so went back to powder.
I live in a hard water area but have never used Calgon or similar.
What exactly do you mean by 'pipework'? I did have a horrible build up of what I presume was mould a few years ago in the drawer cavity - this was when I using the all in one pods.
Ever since, I remove the drawer after I finished with the machine for the day, wipe out the cavity and the drawer and leave it out until I need to use it again. I leave the door open too.

That's exactly what I had.
I used spray bleach kitchen cleaner and scrubbed it out using a bottle brush, sponge and cloths.
Then I use bio powder on a 90 degree cycle, and wiped it down again.
Leaving the drawer out between use, wiping the cavity with kitchen towel after every use and leaving the door open has stopped it coming back.
