It's very good but not cheap.

What is more expensive is to book it for a short period and then decide to extend it when it is about to run out.

It didn't work at all for us when we moved at short notice. We paid for 3 or maybe it was 6 months at the Post Office counter as we needed to show various ID/addrss proofs and  they took our card payment immediately; but the instruction apparently never reached Royal Mail so we got no redirected mail whatsover.  When we realised something must have gone wrong, neither accepted responsibility: both blamed the other.  We got the money back eventually, but never got  our missing post.

You can notify most companies of a change of address now online but some will also write to your old address as a security measure just to check, so without the redirection facility there can be an impasse unless you tell them a few weeks before the move

It worked perfectly when I used it but that was 30years ago. No recent experience.

Personally I’d recommend you re-direct your mail for at least a year, I’m still getting mail (although mostly junk-mail) for the previous owners of my property, having moved in over 8 years ago.

We did it 2 years ago, organised online for 6 months and was brilliant
