I need to buy a replacement gun attachment for.my garden hose. I can't remember the make.

There is a large variety on Amazon, how do I know which one will fit?

I think most are universal fitting.

Measure the internal diameter of the hose.  The most common by far is 1/2" but 5/8" or 3/4" can be used to attain faster flow rates.

If in doubt though, measure the internal diameter and check the specs of the gun.

I think that they are universal fittings, but in any event, the new gun should come with the appropriate fittings for the end of the hose.  Go for a good make with metal fittings which should last longer.

I had to rescue it from a cat.  The cat that brought it in in the first place and then lost it.  It is outside now.  As is the cat.

In my experience if you leave it attached to the hose over winter, even a really mind one, they can break and leak when you first try it next year. Not tried brass but have other metal and plastic. Aside from that, almost any should be fine.

That's what has happened here.

It spent the winter in the shed, and it has cracked, and leaks everywhere.

Never mind, will remember this time to bring in the replacement, and store it indoors.

They are universal and I have found no benefit at all in buying the expensive ones. We bought a couple from the supermarket- just as good. Change them again in a couple of years time when they start to leak.
