Noisy Doors When Closing

We got some new doors and door frames recently. Now when the doors close and hit off the frame it makes quite a clunky noisy sound of wood on wood.

I bought some little silicone pads and stuck them on the frames and although they helped, it also meant that the doors don't latch easily so it defeats the purpose and you have to firmly close them which again causes noise.

I was thinking maybe a thin strip of felt around the frames where the door meets it might dull the sound upon closing.

Does anyone think that would work, or have another solution to quieten the noise when the doors close?

Small piece of draft excluder only about 10mm long top and bottom.

This video uses the pads but possibly goes a step further by, for example, putting them inside the latch:

Perhaps a piece of self-adhesive foam draft excluder instead of your silicone pads could do the trick, cut them as long or short as necessary to dull the closing noise without being enough to need force to close the door.

Thanks, maybe I'll try the felt pads instead of silicone, but the problem arises then of the door not latching easily, so one fix leads to another issue

Perhaps you need to do a little light sanding.

 

Meanwhile it'll have to be clunk, click every trip.

I'm struggling to understand this, flobbers. If a door's set up properly, it should close easily with a simple click as it latches.

Do you mean they're slamming in the wind?

Or maybe you have mechanical door closers?

Sounds like some doors I have. In my case the doors or more likely part of the frame have swelled (or something) and the door meets the frame before the latch is engaged. In flob's case it was probably installed a little off, and moving the hole for the latch slightly might solve things.

Could be just that OG. There shouldn't be any noise though.

Move the 'keep' a tad away from the 'stop'.

Hi guys, thanks for the rest of the answers. In the end I got some rolls of 1mm or 2mm soft pad type material from Amazon. This actually worked pretty well to dull the noise of the doors closing. The only problem was that it was double sided sticky, so I had to leave the paper on, but it's a small price to pay.

I'm thinking that maybe over time as we paint the frames out will also stop this from happening
