what is the best way to fit and fix heavy coving? coving adhesive and screws or another way?

use good quality coving adhesive from wickes, put the coving up and mke suire it is secure, then tap in some panel pins underneath to stop it from slipping and falling off.

whats the best tool to use to cut it for the corners? the coving is about 8" in height?

I'd agree with spaced - if you use ready mixed adhesive it normally has enough suction to hold the coving up, although sometimes panel pins are needed to hold it in place.


You also need a mitre block. These can be bought from DIY stores for standard sizes of coving (100mm and 125mm), and allow accurate cuts for internal and external corners. Getting one for 8" coving is a different proposition, though, and you would probably need to try specialist/trade suppliers.

Decorators Mate from anywhere. Cost about �1.99 a tube, maybe less. It works a treat. I know it's supposed to be a filler but I've used it in the last 4 houses I've done up with excellent results.
