I am interested in buying a property which has the potential to extend, if I ask the council if permission has ever been sought and refused or granted are they at liberty to tell me. I only want the house if I can extend it.
Thanks

You can do this on someone's property with their knowledge. The planning officers should not give you an opinion on this.
go to your local planning office tell them what u are thinking of building they will tell you exactly what u can do . as you can now build up to 70cubic mtr on a property without planning you might not need to even ask the council but they will put you straight.you must however go through building control for what ever you build
