How do you get lily pollen off a cream carpet?

One of my cats has knocked over a vase of flowers. Unfortunately the flowers were on a low table and ended up on the carpet along with all the water that was in the vase. So the lily pollen is already wet and looking very orange.

Any tips?

Sorry I don't have a solution as you say it is wet. If you ever get any of the dry pollen on your clothes, don't touch it, just place a strip of cellotape over it and lift.Hope someone comes up with a solution for you,

no answer on the pollen stain for your carpet, but next lot of lillies you have..... cut the pollen/stamens off...no more bright orange stains anywhere and the gorgeous perfume isn't affected.

Hi

Again, sorry, no solution for your pollen stain, (although I vaguely remember hearing/reading something about using a glycerine solution..), however are you aware that lillies are fatal to cats? The pollen is so toxic to them if they ingest it - easily done by brushing past them and then the cat licking the fur - it can kill puss in a matter of hours.

I have now cut the stamens off the lilies. In my defence I would say that the flowers only opened this morning, but I will be monitoring the remaining lilies and cut off their stamens as soon as the flowers open and dispose of the pollen before the cats get a chance to get near it.

I'm sure lots of people don't know about pollen and cats. I didn't. I have beige carpets throughout, and I have been guilty of splashing hair dye from time to time. It may sound radical, but if your carpet is already ruined, if you dare try bleach. It has worked for me. Try it weak first.

Hello,

Just thought I would let folks know what we did when my mum knocked over a vase of lilys (including water so cellotape no good!) It was onto a wool cream carpet and we really thought that it was not going to come off, it was looking particularly florescent yellow, when a last ditch attempt she tried Sainsbury's sterilising solution (the stuff suitable for baby's bottles) and with a little bit off welly the stain has completely gone, genius!!!! I just had to share it for anyone who thinks, oh ****** we will have to get a new carpet.

Amazing!!Followed baby sterilizer advice on a darkish carpet and worked a treat,no stain whats so ever. Thanks
