We are thinking of converting our loft but realise it is an expensive business. Is it possible to either do all or part of it ourselves to cut down on costs?

Unless you are an expert electrician, roofer, joiner and plasterer all rolled into one, it really is a job for professionals. Remember loft conversions are subject to stringent building regulations that a reputable firm will understand and draw up plans for you accordingly. You'll probably be looking at a bill of between 9,000-15,000 depending on the nature of your loft. You may be able to save a little bit by decorating yourself at the end.
