Carpet cleaning tips

How can I clean my daughter's bedroom fitted carpet. I had a Bissell Quick Wash but it's broken. I live in Ibiza and cannot get it repaired or buy or hire one. The carpet is laid on top of tiles so cannot get too wet. It has a canvass backing. There is a distinct grubbiness in all busy areas so spotting won't do. Any ideas of things I can use ?

if you can buy cans of carpet cleaner ..they are foam inside the can...i use the vanish one here but i dont know what you can buy..well get a bowl of warm water ..add some nice smelling disinfectant if you wish..get on your knees and spray the carpet wipe with a cloth that has been soaked and wrung out in the warm water...then follow it over with a dry towel and soak the dirt up you can even put a dry towel over where you have sprayed and wiped stamp on it and you will se the dirt soak up into the towel...i do this often..i use loads of old towels but they wash back clean...doing it this way will ensure the carpet isnt to wet...you can even lay towels over the carpet when you have done to protect it while it drys off...i know it sounds hard work but its not once you get going..its soon done...

Thanks mullein yes I can buy those cans over here, but wasn't too sure if they were any good. Will have a go this weekend.

I hear that Vinny, a large scrubbing brush and a galvanised bucket full of hot water and washing soda is very good for carpets. And he will do it for a couple of Becks!

hehe...Gessoo...but only when the weather gets warm...! I do clean carpets for a living....but I have my own machine...cant you buy one over the net netti..?from another part of spain...there are firms that clean carpets on yachts in your part of the world..perhaps you could ask them for advice...sorry netti...it looks like your on your hands and knees again..hehe..(:).
