Want to switch energy suppliers,any thoughts ?
Hi,
I'm moving house next week and they're using Southern Electric and British Gas at the mo'. I want to combine suppliers and am thinking now would be a good time, what with the house move.
Looked at uSwitch.com, and nPower and Powergen come out on top but I'm not impressed so far ! nPower gave me a duff phone number re getting the gas boiler serviced regularly and were generally unhelpful, and there was no answer from the 2 numbers I tried for Powergen ! Once it's all set up I won't be too bothered about the lack of customer service - unfortunately that's a fact of life nowadays so I'll just pay me bills and forget about it.
Anyone with experience of these 2 suppliers or any recommendations elsewhere ?

I checked out Utilities Warehouse. I actually bought one of their "pigs" to plug into the phone line years ago and that did work out cheaper but doesn't seem their gas and electricity is, works out quite a bit more expensive than nPower or Powergen.
I take on board your comments about Powergen, specially Lonnie. Good idea that, tho' doesn't apply in my case.
Had never heard of Atlantic but again they seem to be a lot more expensive for my situation.
Well, Powergen could be a go-er, if I knew I could least phone them if needs be. Looks like nPower it is. But when should I switch ? They said it could take 28 days so tell the current suppliers I'm taking over the bills and get the ball rolling re nPower at the same time ?

Up until two weeks ago I used British Gas and Seeboard but have just signed up with nPower and am saving �18 a month on direct debits plus will get �60 rebate each year for duel fuel discount. I intend to keep my central heating care cover with British Gas. I don't think stopping using them for gas, means that they won't service my boiler or refuse to come out if there is a problem with the heating because this is a separate contract which I pay for. I have only used them once for a problem with my heating and they came round and solved the problem without any hassles. Nice to have piece of mind.
