Cat has ruined my leather settee- any suggestions?

My beloved cat has clicked repeatedly the arm of my beloved leather settee. There are dangly innards streaming out which I have tried to trim with scissors but they are too short and leathery. My husband is tempted to burn them off with a lighter or match but surely this would exacerbate the problem! Any ideas? I've had a bit of fabric on the offending area for a couple of months but it looks a right mess and always slips off.
Will it take a professional- if so where would I find such a person and how much approx do you think they would charge. I presume they's take a bit off the back and sew it on the area?

Hi, I had the same problem a few years ago. We had only had the new suite a few days and my dear cat(now departed) stuck her claws in it and pulled the backing through. I had to get someone out to look at the suite as we were having problems with it and he told me that an Upholsterer would be able to do something with it but it would most likely be expensive.

I just snipped off the stringy bits with a pair of sharp nail scissors. Weird thing is she only did it the once.

Thanks for that Why. Yes, my cat only did it once too! Maybe they think the settee is alive and once they've well and truelly beaten it into submission it they can leave it alone!

I think an upholsterer would be too expensive too.
