what is the best type of washing line to buy apart from a rotary for a small garden? infact, is there anything else you can get except rotarys?

I've got one that looks like one of those extending dog leads, if you can imagine that. You fix the unit to a wall with masonery screws then fix a hook to a point somewhere else in the garden, mine is on a fence post. When you want to use it you just pull the line out from the unit and take it to the hook, (the other end locks) When you have finished with it just unhook it and it disappears back into the unit, brilliant idea for a small garden, no rotary washing line in the way. It cost about �12 from B&Q.

You can get washing line that you fix between two points. I have one end tied to a bracket fastened to the house wall and the other is attached to a post. You can buy posts specifically designed for washing lines from B&Q or other DIY stores.

We have one like CheekyChops excpt ours is attached to two poles. In my opinion I think they are the best. They pull up high in the garden in summer so washing isn't flapping around you in the garden and they blow around better so drying is quicker. Had a rotary for many years but wouldn't go back to one now.

I have the one mentioned by the first answer ... But I bought mine in one of the Big Woolworth shops and it was under a fiver.it's in a round green plastic casing and the line springs back inside it when not in use.
