After seeing a particularly nice specimen in a neighbour's garden I bought a Fatsia japonica. Mine is in a pot and is looking rather poorly. What might be the problem?

Fatsia are generally pretty resilient in sun or shade, but as they have a potential height and spread of about 10ft they do need their freedom. Try liberating it from the pot and planting it out. It should be a lot happier.
