I just knew Nickmo would be along - our friendly eco warior! Missed you lately Nickmo.

We had a log maker and MrG used to spend hours and hours making paper bricks. I think we still have it somewhere. I don't think it worked out very economical for us, it stopped him doing all the other jobs needed on our land!!

I also have visions of someone deliberately going to the newsagents each day buying loads of newspapers to make said briquettes.....lol

It takes loads of paper to make just one brickette Boo. Mr G out there working all day making brickettes and then, if we were lucky, a few hours of heat from the woodburner!! Still, it made him feel good.

Awww bless gessoo, is it on par with the male BBQing theory? it harked back to his caveman days???

Hi G - just had a few days nagging the hell out of people at the Home and Garden Show in the SECC about sustainability, food and cookery, provenance and supply chain issues, poultry rearing, organic baking and the like - as you do - and flogged a few books along the way and spread the word to the lovies - did you hear my bit on SAGA FM? Oooooh wasn't it nice......

'Neeway - yes - loads of paper per log rebajayne, but think of the reduction in CO2 by not needing your CH on...so off to gather the waste and 'reuse, reduce and recycle' as they say.

(cue Neil type voice: hey - just time to hug a few dolphins before they become extinct and anyway, lentils and soya are good for you - it takes, like, 20 acres of soya to produce the cattle feed for 1 acre of cattle, man. Like, eat the bean.....peace!).

we had one brrr!
Trouble is you have to soak the newspapers in water then make the briquettes. Far too cold to do in winter when you need them most, but they can be stored for ages.
