Azes 2740: Can’t Work Out The Code...

We have just had a new bedroom carpet fitted. There is a visible line running right across the room which looks like a join and we have called the suppliers in but they pretty much dismissed it as 'nothing'. We requested the manufacturers come and look at it which they said they would. We have now had a letter offereing us 100 (it cost over 400). Anyone got any ideas?
Many thanks to anyone who replies.

The shop manager came back & looked, more or less said the same as Poglet & offered me a 5% reduction. On closer inspection I found they were splits so, knowing that the carpet would be no good to them if I had it exchanged I asked for 40% off & got it.....wish I'd asked for more!
btw - after a short while the marks were no longer visible.
Hi Carpet Fitter here,
The mark probably is a Pole Mark, as Poglet's son has said. A good stiff brush against the pile of the carpet will also help get the pile standing up again.
If the carpet is faulty then get intouch with the supplier, they'll offer a refund or exchange for a new piece of carpet.
The suppliers should really have checked for the pole mark and allowed a wee bit more to cover your floor, minus the pole mark.
