Anaglypta SHOULD come off quite easily just by finding an edge and pulling.

That's the theory anyway!

If yours doesn't come off so easily (ha!) I suggest you cover the furniture and carpets well, dip a paint roller in soapy water - washing up liquid will do, and use it to thoroughly wet the paper.

Leave overnight and wet again - then try pulling it off.

If you are good at working with your arms above your head (not everybody is) you could help things along by using a stanley knife and cutting long slashes in the paper before wetting to help the water penetrate.

I had a similar problem once. Think it was just embossed paper, but the principle was the same.

Very simply I scored the paper, and I used the pipe from the wallpaper stripper (that is, minus the bit that you normally put onto the wallpaper) tied to a broomhandle, and just steamed the paper that way. Water di drip obviously, but by the time it dripped, it wasn't boiling or hot, and the build up of steam loosened the paper enough to scrape off.

thanks for your ideas - all suggestions very welcome

Some DIY shops sell a disc with sharp toothed wheels around the outside egde that can be run over the paper surface to perforate it and let the steam/soapy stuff in. I've found it to be particularly effective.
