We will be looking to move to an older house in the country either late this year or next year. As we live in a 'new build' 11 year old house now would it be wise to wait until the sellers survey laws comes into force next june?

The problem is do you trust a survey someone else has paid for?
If you're buying an older house get a full structural survey done yourself. If the house is really old (mine's 350 years old) get a surveyor with experience of older houses (check out SPAB for contacts) otherwise you'll get a load of stuff about woodworm that in reality have been dead for 2 centuries!
