the white paint on my woodwork is yellowing. does anyone know how I can restore without repainting

My guess is you have used 'brilliant white' which is a devil for yellowing.

I always use 'white' as this doesn't discolour, although it is becoming hard to find.

You can try washing down with sugar soap but I think you will have to resort to repainting.

Sugar soap does work for a while, it actually takes off the shine of the paint. Satin paint doesn't yellow as quickly as brilliant or gloss, but a water-based paint never budges though you'd have to sand down the oil-based paint.

You'll have to repaint. But look for modern paints that say 'Non-Yellowing' on the tin. There are quite a few available these days.
