The concrete slabs in my back garden become very dirty and slippery every year, due to algae, and therefore I have to jet wash them just before summer so we can seat out in the garden. Does anyone know if there is anything I can buy to treat the surface to prevent this happening in the future, thanks Jim.

You could use a patio cleaner which will kill algae and bring the slabs up like new - Jeys fluid or Ecover work well.
The only place algae doesn't grow is where there's no light. Could you cover your slabs over the winter?
